What Is Pilates?Joseph Pilates defined the method of exercise he developed over 80 years ago as the “art of contrology” (muscle control). Although he designed specific apparatus to assist students in developing physical skills, the “Matwork” is the original movement system that involves using one’s own body weight against gravity to strengthen and tone muscles, improve posture, spinal stability, flexibility and balance and to create a connection between mind and body. All of the exercises begin with breath and each movement originates within the core or “powerhouse”. This method of exercise is appropriate for anyone interested in improving their quality of life and can be modified to accommodate any fitness level or limitation.

Pilates Sessions
Level I: Appropriate for all fitness levels
This class focuses on the technique and flow of each exercise, assisting the student to properly and fully integrate the guiding principles as mentioned above. This is the foundation of the work. It is only be mastering these basic principles that a student can truly begin to experience the profoundness of Pilates' methods and progress to higher levels.
Level II: Admittance is up to the discretion of the instructor
This class expands upon what the student has learned in Level I and introduces exercises that place a much greater demand on both the primary powerhouse (core) and also the secondary powerhouse (shoulder girdle). Additional emphasis is place on the flow within each exercise and from one exercise to the next. Students are expected to know the beginner repertoire prior to entering the class.

Single Session: $45 per person
5 Sessions: $200 per person ($40 per session)

- 20 Classes: $200 ($10 per class)

- 5 Sessions: $175 per person ($35 per session)

Cancellation Policy
To avoid being charged for your session, you must cancel 24 hours in advance. This policy applies to duets and semi-private sessions as well. If one person cancels they are responsible for their part of the session.
